Job Overview

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment type: Travel
Contract length: 13 weeks
Hours per week: 36

Unit Details

Unit type: Med/surg
Bed count: 8 inpatient beds plus 8 admission unit beds, with occasional flex up to 12 inpatient beds
Patient ratio: Up to 6:1
Shift staffing: Day and night shifts each include 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, and 1 PCA
Weekends: Normally rotating weekends, as needed for travel RNs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Med Surg / Telemetry (1 year of experience)
Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
NIH Certification

Preferred Experience

2+ years of acute med/surg experience within the last year
Ortho or neuro-surgery background
Med/surg/telemetry background

Responsibilities

Care for med/surg patients
IV insertions
Urinary catheter insertion and maintenance
Central line maintenance
Medication administration
Communication with the care team
Documentation in the EHR

Work Environment

Standard equipment
Scrubs required
Team-focused, patient-centered setting
