Labor and Delivery
Overview
- Travel/Contract role in Topeka, Kansas
- Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:00–18:00
- 36 or 48 hour option
- 13-week contract
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
- 50-mile local radius; locals not accepted
Unit / Clinical Setting
- High Risk Labor & Delivery Unit
- Includes OB Triage, Postpartum, and Level 2 Special Care Nursery
- Care for laboring patients with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia and diabetes
- Handles gestations 34 weeks 0 days and greater
- Procedures include C-Sections and External Cephalic Versions
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Labor and Delivery (1 year of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI or American Safety and Health Institute
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- FHM
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS as applicable
- PALS as applicable
- TNCC as applicable
- CHEMO as applicable
- MAB as applicable
- CPI as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification as applicable
- Color Blind Exam required for all candidates
- Unit-specific skills checklist
- Complete application/resume
- 7-year work history verification
- 7-year background check
- Education verification
- Highest level of education must be verified
- Drivers License/State ID
- E-Verify
- NURSYS verification
- State license verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start
- Tdap within 10 years of start
- Negative TB or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire within 90 days of start for positive TB results
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella documentation as specified in the source
- Fingerprinting and fingerprint consent form, where applicable
- Background check includes SS trace, county searches, nationwide search, sex offender search, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG required upon hire
