Operating Room RN

Role Overview

• Travel/contract Operating Room RN in Manhattan, Kansas
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift: 4x10 hours, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM
• Monday through Friday
• No weekends, holidays, or call

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• OR - Operating Room (2 years of experience)
• OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Orthopedics experience
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Unit / Case Mix

• 6 operating rooms
• 4 rooms are blocked off for orthopedics every day
• High volume of total joint replacements: knee, hip, shoulder, and ankle
• Sports medicine cases include ACL repairs, shoulder scopes, rotator cuff, and meniscal repairs
• Minimal vendor assistance in these cases; nurses and techs must know the instruments, setup, and workflow
• Average volume is about 25 cases per day

Responsibilities

• Pull own cases
• Set up own rooms
• Turn over own rooms
• May assist sterile processing staff with sterilization of instruments or assembling instrument sets
