Required Qualifications

• Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Arkansas
• Interventional Radiology Technologist (2 years of experience)
• Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
• ARRT or RT(R)
• BLS
• Driver's License

Required Skills / Experience

• Assist radiologist and/or performing physician with interventional and special procedures
• Provide patient care essential to the exams
• Can perform surgery procedures required by team/shift
• Operate oxygen, suction, blood pressure, and other essential patient care equipment
• Observe patients before, during, and after procedures
• Make and use appropriate immobilization devices
• Transfer patients to/from stretchers, wheelchairs, and on/off the procedure table, including care to IVs and other appliances
• Safely operate all equipment and report malfunctions immediately
• Locate emergency switches
• Demonstrate understanding of emergency procedures and radiation safety
• Ensure data entered/retrieved from physician orders and/or computer system is accurate
• Verify accuracy prior to procedure
• Review orders for diagnosis and prescriptions
• Collaborate with staff members and physicians to assure optimal patient care
• Revise department schedule and staff assignments as needed
• Perform procedures according to protocol stated in procedure manual/prescribed by radiologist/physician
• Present completed procedure to radiologist/physician for interpretation
• Keep documentation current and available
• Follow through with problem areas
• Evaluate diagnostic procedure for appropriateness and take corrective measures if needed
• Screen for previous procedures
• Assist with interventional procedures including routine and emergency procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and sterile fields
• Position and immobilize patients
• Perform exams on outpatient, inpatient, ICU, ER, and trauma patients
• Obtain appropriate clinical history and document information
• Obtain informed consent if necessary
• Correctly obtain and administer contrast materials for patient exams
• Send all images to the RIC
