NICU RN

Overview

Travel assignment in Chattanooga, Tennessee
Unit: NICU
23 beds
36 hours/week
Variable weekends
Occasional optional overtime
No techs or secretary on the unit

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Tennessee
NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
BLS
NRP
STABLE
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred

Willingness to take standby/call if low census
May float to mother-baby as a tech, if desired

Unit Details

Patient ratios: 1:1 occasionally, 1:2 frequently, 1:3 frequently, 1:4 very rarely, depending on acuity
Equipment includes Giraffe Omnibed, Panda warmer, Drager vent, oscillator, Alaris IV pump, syringe feeding pump, nasal canula, bubble/vent CPAPs, NIPPV, and neo-T resuscitator
Documentation systems: Centricity Perinatal and Meditech
Procedures include PIV insertion, feeding tube insertion, lab draws, straight catheterization, central line management, and airway/respiratory management with RRT
May assist RRT/provider with intubation, surfactant administration, central line placement, and chest tube placement
Dress code: black, grey, or hot pink scrubs
Staff experience noted: many nurses with 20–35+ years of NICU experience
