CVICU

Overview

Travel/Contract RN role in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
Day shift: 6:45 AM–7:15 PM.
36 or 48 hours may be offered.
Contract length: 13 weeks.
Every other weekend required.
Float requirement: yes.
Locals are accepted at the same rate.
RTO after booking is not allowed.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
CVICU experience with 2 years of experience
CVICU experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Experience / Skills

Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
ECMO
Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR)
Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD/RVAD)
Arterial line management
Blood Product Administration
Central line care/management
Continuous IV sedation
Titrate Cardiac drips
Care of Ventilated Patient
Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
Isolation Precautions/PPE

Preferred Skills

Accessing/Managing Ports
Titrate Vasoactive drips
Assist with Chest Tube Insertion/Removal
BiPAP/CPAP management/maintenance
High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
Ventilator Management

Unit Details

Post Open Heart Recovery Unit
Also takes thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR
Unit procedures include CRRT, Impella, and IABP

Scheduling / Staffing Notes

Target ratios: 1:1 nights, 2:1 weekends
Self-scheduling
Hospital orientation is during week one, with classes each day

Additional Notes

Navy or white scrubs, or a combination of the two
EPIC is used on the unit
