Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alaska
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart Stroke Foundation
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart Stroke Foundation
• NIHSS

Schedule and Assignment Details

• Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other weekend, depending on staffing needs
• On-call: No
• Block scheduling: Not accommodated
• Local candidates: Not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
• Guaranteed hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks
• Traveler may be called off for 1 twelve-hour shift per 2 weeks

Unit Information

• Stepdown unit from ICU serving multiple disciplines
• Co-care/virtual nursing model with 1 bedside RN, 1 virtual RN, and 1 CNA for each patient
• Bedside RN ratio: 1:4
• CNA ratio: 1:6
• Virtual nurse assists remotely with admission, discharge, rounding, education, plans of care, and safety rounds
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, neuro overflow, renal overflow, and complicated medical-surgical patients requiring higher-level monitoring
• Cardiac cases include CHF, MI, S/p TAVR, MVR, pacemaker, cardiac arrhythmia, drug load, Angiovac, and ACS
• Respiratory cases include COVID, FLU, COPD, asthma exacerbations, trach patients, chronic home ventilators, high flow NC, and BIPAP

Float Scope

• May float within scope to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and MS
