Description
Pediatric Intensive Care RN
Overview
- Travel assignment in Alexandria, Louisiana
- 13-week contract
- 36 hours per week
- 6-bed Pediatric Intensive Care unit
- 50 mile radius required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Louisiana
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- PALS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Preferred Qualifications
- PICU experience
- NICU experience
- Experience in other women’s health areas, including labor and delivery and ob/gyn
Unit Details
- Day shift staffing: 1 charge nurse and 1 RN/LPN
- Night shift staffing: 1 charge nurse and 1 RN/LPN
- Patient ratio: 1:1-2
- EMR: Meditech
- Equipment includes Alaris IV pump, Bair hugger, Kangaroo Feeding Pump, Giraffe infant warmer, ventilators, BiPap, and High Flow O2
Common Procedures / Clinical Work
- Spinal taps
- Titration of critical drips: sedation, vasoactive, paralytic
- Sedated MRI
- EKG, EEG, Telemetry
- Port access and discontinuation
- Intubation and extubation
Floating
- May float to NICU for low acuity patients or to Nursery
- May float to Ob/gyn if qualified
Schedule
- Rotating weekends
- May work mixed day, night, and weekend schedule to fill scheduling holes as needed
Other Notes
- Teal scrubs required
