PCU

Role Overview

Travel/Contract Registered Nurse assignment in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
12-hour day shifts, 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM.
36 hours per week.
13-week contract.
Unit can accommodate block scheduling when unit needs are met.
Locals are accepted.
First-time travelers are accepted.
Must float to like units.
Every other weekend required.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina.
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year.
2 years of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience.
IV start, vents, telemetry, CPAP/BiPAP, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias.
ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
RTO after booking is not allowed.

Preferred Qualifications

NIHSS.

Unit Details

Mixed acuity PCU and MS/Tele unit.
Target ratio is 1:4-5; in extreme situations, 1:6.
48-bed unit.
Common patient population includes COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, flu, and PE.
The unit takes chronic trach/vent patients, with no more than one vent patient per nurse.
Chest tubes, drips, vents, trachs, BiPAPs, and CPAPs are used on the unit.
EPIC is used.

Additional Notes

Scrubs are not provided; white or navy blue are required.
