Description
Emergency Department RN
Overview
- Travel/contract role
- 13-week assignment
- 12-hour evening, night, or rotating shifts
- Start ASAP
- Every other weekend and holiday
- No block scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with trauma stabilization
- Experience with cardiac monitoring
- Experience with dysrhythmia recognition
Preferred Qualifications
- TNCC
- CPI or de-escalation training
- Experience working in a community hospital ED
- Strong IV and critical assessment skills
- Experience caring for pediatric and adult emergency patients
- Previous travel nursing experience
Unit Details
- Emergency Department with 18 treatment rooms
- Includes private rooms, a dedicated trauma room, Fast Track for lower-acuity patients, and negative-pressure rooms for isolation
Responsibilities
- Rapid assessment and triage of emergency patients
- Nursing care for medical, surgical, cardiac, neurologic, respiratory, orthopedic, and trauma emergencies
- Medication administration, IV therapy, blood products, and emergency interventions
- Monitoring patient condition and responding to changes
- Assisting with cardiac emergencies, stroke response, sepsis management, trauma stabilization, and respiratory emergencies
- Collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, radiology, laboratory, and ancillary staff
- Accurate documentation in the electronic medical record
- Patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment, and discharge instructions
- Compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention standards, and patient safety initiatives
