Description

Respiratory Therapist

Overview

  • Travel/Contract role in Greenville, South Carolina
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend, may change as needed
  • Patient population: Adults/Geriatrics
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Local candidates accepted within radius rule
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in South Carolina
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (2 years of experience)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • Extubation
  • Nasal airway placements
  • Oral airway placement
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Experience with high flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy
  • Experience with BiPAP
  • Experience with CPAP
  • Troubleshooting high pressure alarms
  • Weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Experience with Epic

Required Clinical Experience / Skills

  • Adult Critical Care work settings
  • Extubation
  • Nasal airway placements
  • Suctioning
  • Oral airway placement
  • Oral suctioning
  • Pulmonary hygiene
  • Sputum specimen collection
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Administering albuterol, Atrovent, combivent, flovent, inhaled steroids, ispurel, lidocaine, perforomist, pulmicort, racemic epinephrine, spiriva, terbutaline sulfate, tobramycin, and xopenex
  • Delivering medication through aerosol set up mask, aerosol set up trach, Medihaler, and Metered Dos inhaler
  • Hand held, T-piece, and Trach collar nebulizers
  • High flow nasal cannula and trach collar oxygen therapy
  • BiPaP and CPAP
  • Troubleshooting high pressure alarms
  • Weaning from mechanical ventilation

Floating

  • May float to other units or campuses as needed, limited to areas where staff are qualified and have documented competencies

Charting

  • EPIC experience required for 1 year
