Description
RN - ICU
Overview
- Travel RN position in Sylva, North Carolina
- 1 opening
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Night shift: 7p-7a
- Weekend requirement: up to every other weekend
- Call requirement: up to 2 times per contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Unit
- Combined ICU/PCU
- ICU/PCU unit with 9 beds
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Float scope includes Med-Surg/Tele, ED tasking/holding, and sitter
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Adult patients
- Experience working with Geriatric patients
- Experience with ventilator management
- Experience with vasopressors/drip titration
- Experience with arterial lines
- Experience with central line management
- Experience with BiPAP
- Experience managing DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis)
- Experience managing ETOH withdrawal
Preferred
- Prior travel experience
- Step-down/PCU experience
- Rural or community hospital experience
- Strong adaptability with minimal orientation
Additional Notes
- The ICU is currently caring for both ICU and PCU-level patients while the dedicated PCU is being reopened
- Common diagnoses/treatments include sepsis/septic shock, ventilated patients on vasopressors, ARDS/respiratory failure, ETOH withdrawal, DKA, CHF exacerbation, COPD exacerbation, Afib with RVR, Hypertensive Crisis, and Overdose
- Unacceptable attire includes artificial nails, open-toed shoes, and strong fragrances
