NICU

Overview

• Travel/Contract role in Covington, Louisiana
• Night shift, 3x12 hours: 18:45–7:15
• 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Patient ratio: 1:2–3

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (3 years of experience)
• NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience working with Neonate patients
• Delivery attendance experience
• Experience with ventilator management
• Experience with central line management
• IV insertion skills
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic experience

Float / Scheduling / Coverage

• May float to NOU with 1:4–6 ratios
• Expected to float to normal newborn nursery
• Every other weekend required
• At least 1 major and 1 minor holiday required

Unit Details

• Attend vaginal and c/s deliveries and assist with newborn transition
• Admit and discharge neonates
• Admit and discharge newborns in NOU
• Coordinate care with the patient care team
• Educate and update parents
• Assist new mothers with breastfeeding
• Required skills include neonatal IV placement, lab draws, ventilator and central line management, medication administration, and blood administration
• Procedures include chest tube insertion assistance, PICC/UAC/UVC placement assistance, x-rays, CBG/ABGs, ultrasounds, echocardiograms, EEGs, intubation, oxygen administration, nitric oxide administration, and exchange transfusions
