Description
RN - PCU
Location: Richmond, Virginia Employment Type: Travel Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Unit: PSU (Progressive Surgical Unit), 2nd floor, 12 beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
Unit Details
- Staffing:
- Day shift: 3 or 4 nurses (one charge with patient) and 1 PCT
- Night shift: 3 nurses and 1 PCT
- Total staff: 20
- Patient ratio: 4:1
- Equipment: Central lines, PCA, epidural, drains, Foley, wound VAC, wound care
- Typical procedures:
- Colon resections, Whipple, liver and kidney surgeries, vascular, trauma
- Any surgeries other than cardiac surgery (some medical overflow)
- Cardiac drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin)
- Floating area: Telemetry and med surg
- Unit guidelines:
- VS and assessments q4h
- Rhythm interpretation q4h
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Dress code: All navy scrubs
