Lab Technician Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Hospital Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician
• Associate's degree or higher in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
• Registered as a Medical Technician (ASCP) or equivalent certification
• Meets New York State Department of Health requirements
• Current New York State Clinical Lab Technician license
• Background in clinical chemistry and hematology
• Experience with blood bank procedures and clinical support

Lab Technician Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, and blood bank units
• Analyze clinical samples and report accurate results promptly
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control standards
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support patient care in a hospital setting
• Follow all safety, regulatory, and laboratory protocols
• Adapt to a flexible schedule, including both day and evening shifts
