Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital
• Contract Type: Travel Respiratory Therapist
• Start Date: December 22, 2025
• End Date: March 23, 2026
• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shifts: 4x12-hour shifts per week (Day: 07:00-19:30, Night: 18:30-07:00, rotating)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; holidays as needed
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
• Charting System: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Olive Green (not provided)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1450-$1560

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist in Trauma, ER, and Adult ICU settings
• Current DC RRT State License or proof of application (Washington, DC respiratory therapist jobs)
• CRT or RRT credential required
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (preferred)
• Experience with Puritan Bennett, Draeger, Servo I, Evita XL, and Viasys ventilators preferred
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two supervisor references required
• First-time travel respiratory therapists accepted (will be screened)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including ventilator management, high-flow therapy, BiPAP, aerosol treatments, and chest physical therapy
• Perform procedures such as extubation, airway placement, suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and troubleshoot high-pressure alarms
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in Trauma, ER, and Adult ICU units
• Utilize advanced respiratory equipment and chart patient care using Cerner
• Participate in weekend and holiday coverage as scheduled
• Complete required orientation and training modules prior to and during assignment
