Pathology Assistant Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pathology Assistant (2+ years preferred)
• Proficiency in grossing, specimen accessioning, and laboratory workflow
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Commitment to laboratory safety, compliance, and clinical support standards

Pathology Assistant Responsibilities

• Accession, label, fix, and direct surgical pathology specimens following established hospital laboratory procedures
• Perform grossing with clear, concise, and complete description and dissection of specimens
• Enhance laboratory efficiency and output through effective task prioritization and clinical support
• Verify specimen identification and maintain specimen integrity throughout laboratory processes
• Coordinate accession activities with clerical and professional healthcare staff
• Conduct quality audits and maintain clean, sterile laboratory work areas
• Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies and instruments at optimal levels
• Perform preventive maintenance as per manufacturer and department guidelines
• Support staffing needs across all shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Communicate professionally with laboratory, medical, and hospital personnel
• Comply with hospital and laboratory safety requirements and healthcare regulations
• Contribute to departmental improvements and perform additional duties as assigned
