Respiratory Therapist Job Details
- Location: New Brunswick, NJ 08901 (New Jersey healthcare jobs)
- Facility Setting: Hospital – Respiratory Care (PICU/NICU focus)
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract for Registered Respiratory Therapists
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:30)
- Total Hours: 36 hours per week
- First-time travel RRTs welcome!
Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications
- Active New Jersey or Compact Respiratory Therapist license (required at time of application)
- BLS certification (required)
- Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) highly preferred; onsite training available if needed
- Minimum 1.5 years of acute care experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
- PICU/NICU respiratory care experience required
- Proficient in blood gas analysis, ventilator/BiPAP/high flow initiation and management, code response, in-house transport, medication administration, and chest physiotherapy
- Experience with Servo I & U, V60 BiPAP equipment
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Ability to float to Adult Emergency Department (ED) or Adult critical care units as needed
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality respiratory care to pediatric and neonatal patients in PICU and NICU settings
- Perform blood gas collection, ventilator and BiPAP management, and chest physiotherapy
- Respond to code situations and participate in in-house patient transport
- Administer respiratory medications as ordered by healthcare providers
- Document all care and interventions using the EPIC electronic health record system
- Float to Adult ED or Adult critical care units based on hospital needs and skillset
- Work every other weekend (Friday/Saturday) and be available for 2 of 3 major holidays during the contract
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care
