Speech Language Pathologist Qualifications
- At least 1 year of recent experience as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), preferably in long-term care or hospital settings
- Graduate of an accredited college/university by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) with a degree in Speech Language Pathology
- Current New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or eligibility
- Proficiency with MS Office and Epic EMR software
- Understanding of PDPM reimbursement system
- Strong communication and assessment skills
SLP Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders in a hospital long-term care environment
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to help patients achieve communication and swallowing goals
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including medical and nursing staff, to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate records using Epic EMR
- Educate patients, families, and staff on effective communication and swallowing strategies
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards for SLPs
