Speech Language Pathologist Qualifications

• At least 1 year of recent experience as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), preferably in long-term care or hospital settings
• Graduate of an accredited college/university by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) with a degree in Speech Language Pathology
• Current New York State Speech-Language Pathologist license
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA or eligibility
• Proficiency with MS Office and Epic EMR software
• Understanding of PDPM reimbursement system
• Strong communication and assessment skills

SLP Job Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders in a hospital long-term care environment
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to help patients achieve communication and swallowing goals
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including medical and nursing staff, to deliver comprehensive patient care
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate records using Epic EMR
• Educate patients, families, and staff on effective communication and swallowing strategies
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards for SLPs
