• Schedule: 5x8-hour day shifts (10:00 AM – 6:30 PM), every other weekend required
• Hours per Week: 40
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $980 - $1060

Sterile Processing Technician Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in an acute hospital operating room
• Certification required: CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician or Healthcare Sterile Processing Association)
• Proficient in cleaning, disinfecting, and high-level disinfection (HLD) of medical equipment
• Skilled in using washers, sterilizers, and assembling case carts
• Experience with biological and chemical indicators, immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS), and steam sterilization testing/monitoring
• Knowledge of proper selection of wrapping materials and sterilization wrapping procedures
• Ability to assemble sets/trays for specialties: ENT, general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedics, plastics, urology
• Familiarity with equipment documentation and record-keeping
• Active Maryland or Compact State license required
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Ability to float within hospital units as needed
• Two satisfactory professional references from recent employers

Sterile Processing Tech Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment following hospital protocols
• Assemble and prepare instrument sets and trays for surgical procedures across multiple specialties
• Monitor and document sterilization processes, including biological and chemical indicators
• Operate and maintain washers, sterilizers, and decontamination equipment
• Ensure proper selection and use of wrapping materials and follow sterilization wrapping procedures
• Collaborate with surgical and nursing staff to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies
• Maintain accurate records of equipment processing and promptly report any issues
• Float to other hospital units as required, within scope of experience
