Medical Lab Scientist Job Details

• Location: Towson, Maryland (21204) – Baltimore area
• Assignment Type: Travel Medical Laboratory Scientist, On-Site
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 01/05/2026 – End: 04/06/2026)
• Schedule: 5x8-hour shifts/week
• Shift Options: Night (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and Mid (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM), Monday-Friday (no weekends)
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1640 - $1770 per week

Qualifications for Medical Laboratory Scientist – Blood Bank

• Minimum 2 years of recent Blood Bank experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory
• Active Maryland or Compact state Medical Laboratory Scientist license
• ASCP, ASCP MT, ASCP-BB, ASCP-MLS, or ASCP-MLT certification preferred
• BLS (AHA) certification preferred
• Experience with Epic charting system and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred
• Ability to work independently and adapt to new LIS platforms; training provided
• Willingness to float within hospital laboratory departments as needed
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two professional references from recent employers
• Permanent residence must be 50+ miles from facility

Medical Lab Scientist Responsibilities

• Perform blood bank procedures: ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID, crossmatching, antigen typing, transfusion reaction workups
• Handle pediatric aliquots and independent laboratory assignments
• Ensure accurate specimen accessioning, labeling, storage, and reporting of laboratory test results
• Participate in quality assurance and control for clinical laboratory operations
• Operate laboratory equipment including Epic, Cerner (transitioning to SafeTrace), and Vision Analyzer
• Support transition to new Laboratory Information System (LIS) by attending training sessions
• Maintain compliance with safety and hazardous materials protocols
• Provide laboratory services for neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients
