Sterile Processing Technician Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of sterile processing experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
• Certification required: CBSPD or NBSTSA – Certified Sterile Processing Technician
• Active Maryland or Compact State License at time of submission
• Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
• Two professional references required (one supervisor/manager and one charge RN)
• Must reside at least 50 miles from facility
• Ability to float within hospital units as needed

Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment
• Utilize aseptic technique and advanced disinfection procedures
• Operate automated endoscope reprocessors (AER), ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilization washers
• Conduct biological and chemical indicator testing and maintain documentation
• Assemble and organize instrument trays, including loaner and consignment trays
• Ensure proper labeling, wrapping, and selection of sterilization materials
• Support multiple specialties: orthopedics, bariatrics, neurology, plastics, ENT, and endoscopy
• Float to other hospital units as needed
• Maintain accurate equipment records and preference cards
