Pathologists Assistant Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Pathologists Assistant in a hospital laboratory setting
- ASCP-PA certification required
- Experience with Frozen Section Cryostat, Stryker saw, and band saw
- Active New Jersey or Compact State medical license required
- Epic charting system experience preferred
- Ability to float within skillset as needed
- References required
- First-time travelers accepted
Hospital Lab Tech Responsibilities
- Accessioning, receiving, and labeling pathology specimens
- Obtaining biological samples for flow cytometry
- Performing gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens
- Frozen section preparation and cutting
- Macroscopic description of gross anatomic features
- Preparing tissues for histological processing and specimen fixation
- Gross and microscopic photography
- Reviewing patient clinical information (scans, X-rays, lab results)
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care
