Respiratory Therapist Job Details

Location: Plattsburgh, NY 12901 (New York healthcare jobs)
Facility: Hospital – Respiratory Care Unit
Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/22/2026 – End: 4/23/2026)
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6:30pm – 7:00am)
Hours per Week: 36
Estimated Weekly Salary: $2140 - $2290
Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
Floating: Required to hospital floors, nursery, and ER
Documentation System: EPIC
Medication System: Pyxis
Orientation: 2 days

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist
Experience with neonatal and pediatric populations preferred
Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
EPIC documentation experience within the past 2 years (required)
Ability to float to various hospital units
Reliable personal transportation (public transit not available)
Compliance with hospital dress code (black or ceil blue scrubs, closed non-skid shoes, minimal jewelry, groomed hair/beard, N95 mask ready)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality respiratory care to neonate, pediatric, and adult patients
Operate and manage ventilators (Puritan Bennett 980 & 840, LTV1200) and respiratory equipment
Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and monitoring
Provide respiratory support in the nursery and emergency room
Document patient care accurately using EPIC
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes
Float to other hospital units as needed
Maintain compliance with safety and infection control protocols
