Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- Minimum 1 year recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting (acute care / critical care experience preferred)
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong ventilator management and airway management skills, including experience with mechanical ventilation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Excellent communication, patient education, and documentation skills (therapy charging and shift handoffs)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed in a hospital environment
- Evaluate patients and recommend respiratory treatment plans; support acute and critical care patients
- Administer physician-prescribed treatments using ventilators, oxygen therapy, and aerosol devices
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, and capnography monitoring
- Conduct 12-Lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies
- Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, and chest tube management
- Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency and blood gas trends
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, patient responses, and therapy charges
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care
- Participate in shift-to-shift handoffs and ensure continuity of respiratory therapy services
- Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital respiratory services
