Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,550 – $1,660
- Location: Pittsburgh, PA 15213 (Oakland)
- Setting: Hospital — acute care, critical care, step-down units
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week
- Hours per Week: 36

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist certification (RRT)
- At least 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting
- BLS and ACLS certifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
- Strong communication, patient education, and documentation skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed in acute care and critical care settings
- Evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and participate in ventilator management and weaning protocols
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment, discharge instructions, and ongoing care
- Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers
- Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), oximetry, and capnography monitoring
- Review chest x-rays and perform 12-lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
- Conduct pulmonary function studies (NIF, VC, etc.) and other respiratory diagnostics
- Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and arterial puncture
- Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment and ensure proper equipment maintenance
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, patient responses, and provide clear shift-to-shift handoff communication
- Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Communicate effectively with physicians and the multidisciplinary team regarding therapy effectiveness
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the respiratory care department
