Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist certification (RRT)
  • At least 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital setting
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
  • Strong communication, patient education, and documentation skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed in acute care and critical care settings
  • Evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and participate in ventilator management and weaning protocols
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment, discharge instructions, and ongoing care
  • Conduct physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment (invasive and non-invasive), oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), oximetry, and capnography monitoring
  • Review chest x-rays and perform 12-lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition
  • Conduct pulmonary function studies (NIF, VC, etc.) and other respiratory diagnostics
  • Assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, and arterial puncture
  • Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment and ensure proper equipment maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of treatments, patient responses, and provide clear shift-to-shift handoff communication
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and the multidisciplinary team regarding therapy effectiveness
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the respiratory care department
