Travel Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – Pediatric/NICU/PICU in Washington, DC (20010): 13-week travel contract at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. Join a dynamic team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at a renowned teaching and Magnet hospital with 323 inpatient beds and a 70-bed NICU. Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,650 - $1,770
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 26 weeks)
- Position: Travel Respiratory Therapist / Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
- Setting: Hospital – Level I Pediatric Trauma Center (Pediatric respiratory therapist role)
- Unit: Respiratory Care (RRT); NICU/PICU preferred; float to CICU as needed
- Shift: Day shifts, 3x12-hour (07:00 - 19:30); every other weekend required
- Hours: Guaranteed 36 hours/week; up to 48 hours available
- Start Date: April 13, 2026

Job Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience required; 2+ years of pediatric specialty experience preferred
- Pediatric experience strongly preferred (neonatal and pediatric respiratory care)
- DC RRT license required (pending applications accepted; must be active before start) — state RT licensure required
- Certifications required prior to start: RRT, BLS (AHA), PALS
- Travel experience preferred, especially for first-time travelers to Washington, DC
- Compliance with facility vaccination requirements (COVID-19 vaccine + booster required)
- References strongly preferred and must be available upon request
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and pediatric patients in acute care settings
- Float between NICU, PICU, and CICU units as needed to support pediatric respiratory services
- Perform specialized procedures including bronchoscopy support, advanced airway management, and mechanical ventilation management
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust ventilator settings appropriately
- Administer respiratory medications and therapies (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, inhaled steroids) and provide aerosolized treatments
- Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and transport ventilators (Draeger, Servo I, Astral 150, Hamilton C1)
- Document patient care accurately using the Cerner electronic health record system
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, collaborate with pediatric healthcare teams, and support quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, including non-smoking regulations and child-friendly attire
