Job Details

  • Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,670 - $1,800
  • Location: Washington, DC 20010 (Washington, DC dietitian jobs)
  • Contract Type: 13-week travel contract – Travel Dietitian / Inpatient Dietitian
  • Start Date: April 20, 2026
  • Shift: Day shifts – 4x10-hour (07:00 - 17:30) or 5x8-hour (08:30 - 17:00), includes weekend coverage
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • On-Site Position: Inpatient clinical role at a teaching hospital
  • Systems: Cerner charting preferred (experience with hospital EHRs a plus)

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential / Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) certification
  • DC Dietitian licensure: pending applications accepted with proof of submission; must have active DC license at start
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in adult outpatient/clinic settings OR 1 year experience in a teaching hospital (inpatient dietitian experience preferred)
  • Clinical experience with heart failure, post-op gastric bypass, dialysis/hemodialysis/CRRT, and acute/chronic kidney disease
  • Experience with enteral nutrition (tube feedings), NFPE (Nutrition-Focused Physical Exam), and management of refeeding syndrome
  • Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC) preferred
  • Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
  • Professional attire: business casual or black scrubs and lab coat (not provided)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and reassessments for adult and geriatric inpatients across multiple units
  • Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans, therapeutic diet orders, and clinical nutrition therapy for complex medical conditions
  • Provide specialized care for patients with heart failure, post-op gastric bypass, renal disease (dialysis/CRRT), cancer, morbid obesity, and chronic wounds
  • Manage enteral nutrition, anticipate and address tube-feeding complications, and coordinate with nursing for safe nutrition delivery
  • Conduct Nutrition-Focused Physical Exams (NFPE) and identify malabsorption, nutrient deficiencies, and refeeding risk
  • Float to various hospital units as needed to provide inpatient dietitian coverage and ensure continuity of care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists) to optimize patient outcomes
  • Educate patients, families, and clinical staff on nutrition-related topics and evidence-based practices
