Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid State Respiratory Therapist license (RRT) or NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential
• Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with mechanical ventilation, arterial punctures, and pulmonary function testing
• Strong communication, patient education, and multidisciplinary team collaboration skills
• Ability to work independently and manage critical care respiratory cases

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed
• Operate and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment and manage ventilator patients
• Evaluate respiratory patients and recommend treatment plans; perform ongoing assessments
• Deliver physician-prescribed treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen therapy, aerosol and nebulizer devices
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring and review chest x-rays
• Conduct 12-lead EKGs, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies
• Assist with bronchoscopy, tracheostomy care, chest tube placement/drainage procedures
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency; report and document test results accurately
• Follow laboratory testing policies for specimen handling and reporting; maintain accurate therapy records
• Perform CPR per BLS/ACLS guidelines; insert/remove endotracheal tubes as required
• Communicate with physicians about therapy effectiveness and participate in thorough shift hand-offs
• Ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging and data entry; perform other duties as assigned
