Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,700 – $1,820
- Location: Washington, DC 20007 (Georgetown area)
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shift: Day shift, 5x8-hour (07:00 – 15:30)
- Hours per Week: 40

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of clinical laboratory scientist experience in a hospital blood bank or transfusion services
- ASCP MLS or ASCP-BB certification required (MLT NOT accepted for MLS positions)
- DC clinical laboratory license in hand at time of submission (District of Columbia license)
- Hands-on blood bank experience: ABO/Rh typing, Antibody Screen & Identification, AHG Crossmatch, Antigen Typing, Tube Method
- Experience with blood banking procedures including blood irradiation, cord blood evaluation, and transfusion reaction workups
- Previous travel assignment experience required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two supervisor references required
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex blood bank and transfusion medicine procedures: ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening/identification, AHG crossmatch, antigen typing
- Evaluate cord blood and support neonatal transfusion needs as indicated
- Conduct transfusion reaction workups, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure patient identification integrity
- Thaw, prepare, and cool blood products per hospital protocols; perform blood irradiation when required
- Maintain quality control, follow laboratory safety standards, and comply with hospital and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient care and timely transfusion services
