Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an ARRT-approved radiologic technology program
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (ARRT-R)
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification (American Heart Association); renew every two years
- Minimum 1 year of experience performing radiologic procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physician's office
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, radiologic equipment, and radiation safety
- Strong communication skills, ability to follow directions, and basic troubleshooting skills for imaging equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic radiography and fluoroscopic exams; explain procedures and address patient questions
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures as ordered by physicians, following ALARA radiation safety principles
- Operate CR, DR, and Fluoro rooms safely and efficiently; assist Radiologists and Fluoro Techs during special procedures
- Evaluate orders and imaging requests for appropriate exams and indications
- Verify patient identifiers and ensure correct technique and positioning for quality diagnostic images
- Transfer images to PACS, document study details, scan and route required paperwork
- Transport and operate portable x-ray equipment throughout hospital departments as needed
- Prepare and administer IV and oral contrast media in accordance with facility protocols
- Document patient history, symptoms, imaging limitations, and study-specific information in PACS or electronic medical record
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and manage room assignments; perform clerical tasks and assist with office functions as required
- Participate in quality assurance activities and adhere to department policies and safety regulations
- Provide excellent patient care and customer service while escorting or assisting patients throughout the department
