Job Requirements

• Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program (minimum Associate Degree)
• Active New York State (NYS) Respiratory Therapist License (no disciplinary action; current CE profile)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• EPIC electronic health record (EHR) experience required
• Minimum 3 years of RRT experience in an academic medical center or hospital critical care setting
• Experience with adult and pediatric critical care; neonatal respiratory support highly desirable
• Familiarity with emergency department procedures and inter-/intra-hospital patient transport
• Strong communication, clinical assessment, and computer skills

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory disorders under physician direction
• Initiate and perform therapeutic respiratory procedures, including ventilator management and mechanical ventilation
• Perform cardio-respiratory diagnostics (ABGs, PFTs, ventilator checks) and document findings in EPIC
• Select, assemble, troubleshoot, and operate respiratory equipment and adjuncts
• Provide neonatal and pediatric respiratory support when indicated and assist with emergency airway management
• Supervise and mentor respiratory therapy technicians and support staff
• Coordinate safe patient transport and transitions between departments and facilities
• Maintain accurate patient records, adhere to HIPAA confidentiality, and prioritize emergent versus non-emergent requests
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes in ICU, ED, and step-down settings
