Required Qualifications (Respiratory Therapist / RRT / CRT)
- Minimum 2 years recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT); critical care/ICU experience preferred
- Valid DC state license required (pending license may be considered)
- BLS certification required
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
- Two supervisor references required
- Experience with adult critical care and respiratory services preferred (ventilator management, ABG interpretation)
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system preferred
Key Responsibilities (Clinical Respiratory Therapist)
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients, including ventilator management and weaning
- Deliver high flow therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, aerosol treatments, and chest physical therapy
- Perform airway procedures: airway placement, suctioning, extubation, and pulmonary hygiene
- Administer respiratory medications and therapies (e.g., Albuterol, Atrovent, Nitric Oxide) and assist with bronchoscopy when required
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and make evidence-based recommendations for respiratory care
- Participate in trauma and emergency department care as needed; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Operate and troubleshoot specialized respiratory equipment: Puritan Bennett, Draeger, Servo I, Evita XL, Viasys Vela, Maquet U (critical care ventilators)
- Work every other weekend; no call or float required
