Required Qualifications

• Active New Jersey state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with ventilators, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and arterial blood gas sampling
• Strong communication, patient education, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently on night shift in a fast-paced acute care environment

Key Responsibilities (Respiratory Therapist / RRT)

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport per physician orders
• Manage ventilators and perform ventilator setup, monitoring, and troubleshooting (invasive and non-invasive)
• Perform arterial puncture, tracheostomy care, endotracheal tube insertion/removal, and suctioning
• Conduct pulmonary function testing and assist with bronchoscopy and chest tube procedures
• Use oxygen and aerosol devices, nebulizers, and other respiratory equipment safely and effectively
• Monitor oxygenation and ventilation using pulse oximetry and capnography; review chest x-rays as needed
• Perform 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition; participate in CPR per BLS/ACLS
• Evaluate patients, recommend treatment plans, and provide patient and family education at discharge
• Document treatments, patient responses, and ensure accurate respiratory therapy charging
• Communicate therapy effectiveness to physicians and participate in shift-to-shift handoffs
• Follow lab/specimen handling and quality control policies for respiratory testing
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support department and patient care goals
