Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Minimum 1 year recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital or acute care setting
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to work independently on night shift with minimal supervision
• Strong clinical communication, patient education, and interdisciplinary teamwork skills
• Ability to obtain Ohio state respiratory licensure or meet travel agency credential requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intensive respiratory care and patient transport per medical orders in an acute care hospital setting
• Manage ventilators and perform ventilator management for invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosolized medications, and nebulizer treatments as prescribed
• Perform chest physiotherapy, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), oximetry, and capnography monitoring
• Evaluate patients, recommend individualized treatment plans, and adjust therapy based on clinical response
• Conduct pulmonary function measurements (NIF, VC, etc.) and 12-lead EKGs with basic arrhythmia recognition
• Assist with procedures including bronchoscopy support, tracheostomy care, chest tube monitoring, and arterial punctures
• Set up, operate, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment; ensure equipment safety and troubleshooting
• Review chest x-rays as they relate to respiratory care and document findings in the medical record
• Document treatments, patient responses, and accurate respiratory therapy charging; participate in shift-to-shift handoffs
• Communicate effectively with physicians and the multidisciplinary healthcare team to support patient care goals
