Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA- or CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Valid Ohio Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- BLS certification required upon submission
- Minimum 2 years recent RRT experience in a hospital setting (critical care, med-surg, or ED experience preferred)
- Ability to work 3x12-hour night shifts per week; dependable night shift availability
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills
Primary Responsibilities (Hospital Respiratory Care / Clinical)
- Confirm and clarify physician orders; assess appropriateness of respiratory therapy interventions to ensure quality patient care
- Provide ventilator management and mechanical ventilation support, including setup, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ventilator weaning per protocol
- Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and analysis, pulse oximetry monitoring, and document patient tolerance and response to therapy
- Deliver respiratory procedures per department protocols (airway management, aerosol therapies, chest physiotherapy)
- Respond to emergencies and actively participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and code situations
- Set up, maintain, disinfect, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment; administer medical gases and aerosolized medications as ordered
- Provide patient and family education on pulmonary disease management, treatment plans, and home respiratory care when appropriate
- Participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams, quality improvement initiatives, in-services, and maintain competency in respiratory care skills
