Job Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience in healthcare, pharmacy claims, coding, finance, revenue cycle, patient accounting, or physician billing; 1 to 3 years preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
  • CPC or RHIT certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of professional billing workflows, charge entry, edit systems, claims processing, and revenue cycle operations
  • Understanding of Medicare, third-party billing, reimbursement, and regulatory billing guidelines
  • Knowledge of CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10-CM/PCS, NDC numbers, and unit conversion
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Research, resolve, and prepare claims that have not passed payer edits
  • Determine and initiate action to resolve rejected drug claims and pharmacy reimbursement issues
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for reimbursement, claims, billing, and provider relationship issues
  • Monitor electronic and paper claim rejections to identify workflow, system, or process improvements
  • Review billing accuracy and support compliance with state, federal, and payer guidelines
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to improve denials management and reduce avoidable write-offs
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly through meetings, email, and presentations
  • Follow up on outstanding account balances in alignment with organizational protocol
