Job Requirements
- At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred in an acute care, hospital, or general care setting
- Current Respiratory Care License in the state of practice
- NBRC credential required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred at hire or obtained prior to direct patient care
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with an interdisciplinary care team
- Experience with EPIC or other electronic health records preferred
- Ability to work with patients across the lifespan, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory care procedures in accordance with physician orders, scope of practice, and department protocols
- Conduct patient assessments, evaluate therapy effectiveness, and adjust care recommendations as appropriate
- Set up, maintain, and monitor respiratory therapy equipment and treatment modalities
- Provide patient and caregiver education on respiratory therapies, inhaler use, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and ventilator care as applicable
- Respond to cardio-pulmonary resuscitations and assist the care team during urgent clinical situations
- Maintain accurate documentation, charting, and recordkeeping in the electronic health record
- Follow quality, safety, infection control, and universal precaution standards at all times
- Support new team members or students as a preceptor when needed
