Job Requirements
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential
- Active Massachusetts Respiratory Therapy license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- At least 1 year of critical care experience in a hospital setting
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and excellent bedside manner
Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory therapy services to patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions
- Initiate and manage ventilatory support, including appropriate ventilator settings and troubleshooting
- Use lung-protective strategies and assist with ventilator weaning
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as ABG draws, sputum specimen collection, bedside spirometry, and capnography
- Monitor patient respiratory status during intrahospital and interfacility transport
- Respond to codes and rapid response events, and assist with conscious sedations and intubations
- Administer therapeutic gases, aerosolized medications, and high-flow oxygen therapy
- Assist with bronchoscopies and support neonatal and pediatric respiratory therapies when needed
- Assess and manage tracheostomy and laryngectomy tubes, suctioning, and airway maintenance
- Provide PEP, CPT, airway clearance therapies, and non-invasive ventilation support
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and maintain accurate EMR documentation and charge reconciliation
- Support orientation, training, equipment upkeep, and ongoing service excellence
