Overview

We are seeking an experienced Pathologists' Assistant / Lab Tech to perform grossing and specimen processing in a high-quality hospital laboratory setting. This locum tenens healthcare job is ideal for a professional who takes pride in accuracy, documentation, teamwork, and strong laboratory practices in surgical pathology and histology.

Job Details

• Setting: Hospital laboratory, histology/pathology
• Location: Cleveland, Ohio 44195
• Start Date: 8/31/2026
• Contract Length: 17 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
• Shift Duration: 8 hours
• Shifts Per Week: 5
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,830-$3,040
• Schedule Highlights: No weekends, no call
• Orientation: 16 hours

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of surgical pathology experience required
• Minimum of 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to locum tenens work
• Must be certified by an accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program
• Must be a Pathologists' Assistant from a NAACLS-accredited PA training program
• PA (ASCP) certification required
• Permanent Ohio license in hand at time of submission
• Active required certifications with nothing pending
• Ability to provide two professional references from a manager, supervisor, ANM, or director in the specialty within the past 12 months
• Must successfully complete required pre-start compliance items and orientation assessments

Responsibilities

• Perform gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens for examination
• Assist with the preparation of freshly removed surgical specimens for cytologic studies
• Maintain clear, accurate, and legible documentation in all records
• Perform high-complexity laboratory testing in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures
• Follow proper specimen handling, processing, reporting, and record maintenance standards
• Adhere to quality control policies and document all QC activities, calibrations, and maintenance
• Support a safe, compliant workflow in a busy pathology and histology environment
