Job Requirements
- Current Respiratory Care License in the state of practice
- NBRC credential required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
- BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred and must be obtained before direct patient care if required by the facility
- Previous working experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting is preferred; 6 months respiratory therapy experience in a general care area is preferred
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics
Responsibilities
- Perform respiratory assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient response to therapy
- Administer respiratory treatments and therapies according to physician orders and patient needs
- Set up, maintain, and monitor respiratory equipment and supplies
- Educate patients and caregivers on therapies such as oxygen, inhaler use, incentive spirometry, and ventilator care
- Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and support resuscitation efforts as indicated
- Document care accurately and maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
- Collaborate with the care team to optimize treatment plans and improve outcomes
- Support adult inpatient units and assist with pediatric patients in the ER prior to transport when needed
