Job Requirements

• Current Respiratory Care License in the state of practice
• NBRC credential required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred and must be obtained before direct patient care if required by the facility
• Previous working experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting is preferred; 6 months respiratory therapy experience in a general care area is preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations, including neonates, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory assessments, develop care plans, and evaluate patient response to therapy
• Administer respiratory treatments and therapies according to physician orders and patient needs
• Set up, maintain, and monitor respiratory equipment and supplies
• Educate patients and caregivers on therapies such as oxygen, inhaler use, incentive spirometry, and ventilator care
• Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and support resuscitation efforts as indicated
• Document care accurately and maintain quality, safety, and infection control standards
• Collaborate with the care team to optimize treatment plans and improve outcomes
• Support adult inpatient units and assist with pediatric patients in the ER prior to transport when needed
