Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Active Respiratory Therapist credential/license
• At least 1 year of respiratory care experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of ventilatory support, oxygen therapy, and aerosol delivery systems
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Comfortable with night-shift clinical workflows, collaboration, and team communication
• CPR competency and familiarity with BLS/ACLS guidelines
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and follow hospital policies and procedures

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide quality respiratory care, including evaluation of patients and development of treatment plans
• Administer physician-prescribed therapies using invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment
• Perform suctioning, chest physiotherapy, oximetry, capnography, and arterial punctures per policy
• Assist with tracheostomy care, airway management, and endotracheal tube insertion/removal as needed
• Support procedures related to respiratory care and patient transport within the hospital
• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation and respiratory equipment
• Record patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately in the medical record
• Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and care team members during rounds and handoffs
• Educate patients on treatments, testing, equipment, and discharge respiratory care instructions
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support excellent patient care
