Respiratory Therapist Travel Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,060
• Assignment Type: Travel respiratory therapy assignment

• Contract Duration: 18 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week; 12-hour night shifts
• Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.; 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, as scheduled
• Holiday Requirement: Holidays as scheduled
• On-Call: No on-call requirement
• Patient Population: Neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience
• Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
• CPI certification, as required for compliance
• Strong pediatric and adult respiratory care experience
• Travel respiratory therapist experience preferred; first-time travelers are welcome with strong relevant clinical experience
• Ability to float within the respiratory therapy specialty and support other hospital care areas as needed
• Ability to meet all assignment compliance and health screening requirements before the start date

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory assessments, treatments, monitoring, and patient education across the lifespan
• Care for patients with acute and chronic respiratory illnesses, including patients requiring critical care interventions
• Perform arterial blood gas draws and interpret ABG results to support clinical decision-making
• Manage and troubleshoot ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen systems, and other respiratory therapy equipment
• Administer respiratory medications and therapies in accordance with provider orders and respiratory care protocols
• Assist with airway management, intubation, extubation, suctioning, tracheostomy care, and mechanical ventilation weaning
• Respond to rapid response events and provide respiratory support during emergency and high-risk deliveries when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, respiratory services, and interdisciplinary care teams to promote safe, effective patient care
• Float within scope of practice as needed to help maintain respiratory therapy coverage throughout the hospital
