Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Salem, Massachusetts
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,860
• Assignment: 13-week travel respiratory therapy contract
• Start Date: November 1, 2026
• End Date: January 30, 2027
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
• Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Setting: Acute-care hospital respiratory care department
• Patient Care Areas: Intensive care and medical-surgical units
• Charting System: EPIC

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Active Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist license
• Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy
• At least 2 years of acute-care respiratory therapy experience in one location
• Previous travel respiratory therapist experience preferred; candidates should have strong adaptability in hospital environments
• Demonstrated experience managing mechanical ventilation in an acute-care setting
• Ability to draw and interpret arterial blood gases
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Registered Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for patients in intensive care and medical-surgical units
• Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory conditions
• Manage and troubleshoot mechanical ventilation, including PB980 ventilators
• Use Hamilton T1 transport ventilators during patient transfers and transport-related care
• Draw arterial blood gases and communicate results to the care team
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other clinicians to support safe, effective patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in EPIC
• Respond effectively to changes in patient respiratory status and urgent clinical needs
