Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Springfield, Ohio
• Assignment Type: Travel respiratory therapy assignment
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730-$1,860
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Weekly Hours: Approximately 36 hours
• Shift Rotation: Night shifts rotate weekly; every other weekend required
• Setting: On-site hospital respiratory therapy department

Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of Ohio
• National Board for Respiratory Care credential required
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) accepted; RRT preferred
• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience preferred, with experience in a general acute-care hospital setting strongly valued
• Current BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification as applicable; required credentials must be obtained from an approved source before direct patient care
• Demonstrated experience with ventilators, high-flow nasal cannula, and heated high-flow oxygen
• Experience with 980 ventilators preferred
• Ability to provide respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient populations based on department needs
• Strong patient assessment, communication, organization, documentation, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment and respond effectively to changing patient acuity

Respiratory Therapy Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing respiratory assessments, analyze clinical data, develop respiratory care plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Administer respiratory treatments and therapies in accordance with physician orders and patient response
• Manage ventilatory support, CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, nebulized medications, inhaled therapies, oxygen therapy, and continuous aerosol treatments
• Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and participate in resuscitation events as clinically indicated
• Perform arterial blood gas punctures and testing, airway management, pulse oximetry, bedside pulmonary function testing, and other diagnostic procedures within scope of practice
• Monitor patients and recommend respiratory therapy adjustments to help achieve appropriate clinical goals
• Provide respiratory education to patients and caregivers regarding disease management, inhaler use, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, aerosol treatments, and ventilator care when applicable
• Maintain respiratory equipment and supplies, accurate patient records, and timely clinical documentation
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team across the emergency department, ICU, cardiovascular ICU, step-down unit, and medical-surgical floors
• Follow infection prevention, safety, quality assurance, and departmental policies while maintaining a patient-centered approach to respiratory care
