Join a collaborative respiratory therapy team as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) on a 16-week travel healthcare assignment in Portland, Maine. This on-site hospital opportunity supports patients across adult acute and critical care, emergency services, pediatrics, NICU, and PICU settings within a tertiary teaching hospital. Location & Respiratory Therapy Opportunity
- Work in a high-acuity hospital setting with exposure to varied patient populations and advanced respiratory care needs.
- Provide respiratory care across adult, pediatric, neonatal, emergency, acute care, and critical care units.
- Collaborate with a team of approximately 14–16 respiratory therapists.

Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details
- Location: Portland, Maine 04102
- Setting: On-site hospital respiratory therapy department
- Assignment Dates: October 19, 2026–February 8, 2027
- Duration: 16-week travel assignment
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$2,030
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
- Shift Options: 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Schedule: Every other weekend; participation in a call rotation of approximately one call shift per month, as needed
- Call Requirement: Approximately two hours of coverage for the oncoming shift
- Documentation: Epic electronic medical record
- Dress Code: Scrubs; color may be provided or flexible
Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- At least 3 years of respiratory therapy experience required
- Current BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- NRP certification required for NICU assignments
- Recent experience in adult acute care and critical care
- Experience with acute care pediatrics, NICU/PICU, and emergency department settings required
- Experience in a tertiary teaching hospital and Level I trauma environment strongly preferred
- Ability to float throughout the hospital based on patient and department needs
- Strong communication skills, flexibility, and a collaborative approach to patient care
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive respiratory therapy services to adult, pediatric, neonatal, and critical care patients.
- Assess patients, develop and implement appropriate respiratory care plans, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Manage ventilated and noninvasive respiratory support patients using equipment such as Dräger, Hamilton, Trilogy, Respironics, Airvo, and Vapotherm systems.
- Respond to respiratory emergencies in critical care, emergency, pediatric, and neonatal settings.
- Float across departments and adapt care delivery to changing operational needs.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families.
- Document assessments, treatments, and patient responses accurately in Epic.
- Participate in weekend scheduling and the respiratory therapy call rotation.
