Travel Cath Lab Technologist Job Details

Cath Lab Technologist Job Requirements

  • At least 2 years of post-technical-school radiology experience or 2 years of experience as a Special Procedures Technologist
  • Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Current ARRT registration
  • Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist license
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia competency assessment
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Knowledge of radiation safety, cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, interventional supplies, and cardiac catheterization equipment
  • Interventional radiology experience preferred, including exposure to vascular, peripheral, and non-vascular procedures
  • Ability to wear required lead protective equipment and participate in rotating call coverage

Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist Responsibilities

  • Assist with invasive cardiovascular and interventional procedures by scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters
  • Support diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology procedures while operating radiologic and interventional equipment safely and effectively
  • Acquire, process, and transfer images to the PACS system while maintaining optimal image quality
  • Prepare, position, transfer, and monitor patients to promote safety, comfort, and successful procedural outcomes
  • Assist physicians with contrast administration during arterial, venous, and percutaneous procedures
  • Set up and turn over procedure rooms, sterile trays, equipment, and supplies
  • Provide procedure-specific patient education and demonstrate service excellence
  • Apply radiation safety principles, including shielding, exposure minimization, and proper use of protective equipment
  • Assist vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists with procedures as needed
  • Document supplies, implants, and other regulatory information associated with each procedure
  • Complete daily checklists, equipment inspections, safety checks, and preventive maintenance activities
  • Report equipment issues, maintain and clean interventional equipment, and help manage departmental inventory
  • Use computerized clinical information systems and maintain accurate procedural documentation
  • Participate in department education, competency activities, and quality improvement initiatives
