Experienced CVOR Surgical Technologists can join a high-performing cardiovascular operating room team in Silver Spring, Maryland. This 13-week travel contract offers the opportunity to support complex surgical procedures in an acute care hospital while enjoying convenient access to Washington, D.C., welcoming neighborhoods, and excellent amenities.

Travel Surgical Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,920–$2,060
• Location: Silver Spring, Maryland
• Employment Type: 13-week travel surgical technologist contract
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• Contract End Date: February 1, 2027
• Schedule: Four 10-hour day shifts per week, approximately 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Call Requirement: Approximately 2–3 call shifts per week, including at least one 24-hour weekend call period per month; weeknight call is also required based on staffing needs
• Scheduling: Monday through Friday with a variable day off; block scheduling may be accommodated
• Patient Population: Adults, adolescents, and geriatric patients
• Charting: Cerner
• Orientation: Approximately 30 hours
• Additional Information: Scrub colors are provided, and parking is available at no cost

CVOR Surgical Technologist Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent CVOR or cardiovascular surgical technology experience
• Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible
• Strong surgical scrub experience required
• Experience supporting general and neurological surgery cases required; cardiovascular operating room experience preferred
• Current BLS certification
• Current NBSTSA certification or TS-C credential required; NCCT certification is not accepted
• Active Maryland or compact license or applicable credential in hand at the time of submission
• Current COVID-19 vaccination required; exemptions are not available
• Must be nicotine-free, as nicotine screening is required
• Ability to participate in call coverage and work Christmas week is required
• Two supervisory references and current certification expiration dates are required during the application process

CVOR Surgical Technologist Responsibilities

• Scrub cardiovascular, general, and neurological surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile field
• Support procedures such as coronary artery bypass grafting, mitral valve replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, pericardial window, and vascular bypass procedures
• Apply aseptic technique, universal protocol, time-out procedures, isolation precautions, and sharps safety practices
• Prepare, organize, and maintain surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for assigned cases
• Assist the surgical team with specimen handling and labeling according to established protocols
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia professionals, and other members of the perioperative team
• Provide call coverage and respond promptly to scheduled and emergent surgical needs
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow all operating room policies and safety standards
