Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist credential or applicable respiratory therapy credential
- Active respiratory therapist license in Ohio, or eligibility to practice according to applicable requirements
- At least 1 year of professional respiratory therapy experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certification, or the ability to meet applicable requirements before beginning the assignment
- Clinical experience with invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, oxygen delivery systems, and aerosol therapy
- Ability to assess patients, prioritize care, document accurately, and communicate effectively with the care team
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a calm, patient-centered approach
Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and recommend or implement respiratory treatment plans within the scope of professional practice
- Provide routine and advanced respiratory treatments using invasive and non-invasive ventilators, oxygen equipment, aerosol devices, and nebulizers
- Set up, self-test, operate, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment
- Perform suctioning, chest physiotherapy, tracheostomy care, airway management, and endotracheal tube insertion or removal as permitted by policy and scope of practice
- Perform oximetry, capnography, arterial puncture, pulmonary function studies, 12-lead EKGs, and basic arrhythmia recognition
- Assist with respiratory-related procedures, including bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy, chest tube placement, and other interventions
- Provide respiratory support during patient transport into and out of the hospital as medically prescribed
- Respond to cardiopulmonary emergencies and perform resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Review relevant diagnostic information, monitor patient response, and communicate changes or concerns to physicians and the interdisciplinary team
- Educate patients and families about treatments, equipment, and discharge-related respiratory care
- Document assessments, treatments, patient responses, handoff information, and applicable charges accurately
- Support equipment maintenance and promptly report equipment concerns or repair needs
