Travel Sonographer Job Details

• Location: Jamaica Plain, Boston, Massachusetts—a welcoming, community-oriented neighborhood with convenient access to Boston’s medical resources, green spaces, and cultural attractions
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract for a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• End Date: January 31, 2027
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,730–$1,860
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, generally Friday through Sunday
• Shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Work Setting: On-site hospital ultrasound and diagnostic imaging department

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Job Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional Sonographer or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer experience
• Recent experience performing abdominal ultrasound and OB/GYN ultrasound examinations
• ARDMS certification
• Current BLS certification
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively during overnight hospital shifts
• Successful completion of required credential verification, skills assessment, and facility onboarding requirements

Travel Sonographer Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with department protocols and professional standards
• Complete abdominal and OB/GYN ultrasound studies with attention to image quality, patient safety, and clinical detail
• Obtain and document accurate patient histories and relevant clinical information
• Recognize and document pertinent findings for review by the interpreting provider
• Provide compassionate patient care while explaining procedures and maintaining patient comfort and privacy
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow infection prevention and department safety procedures
